JESS, BORDER COLLIE, AND BLUEBELL, TABBY CAT WERE NEW ARRIVALS THIS YEAR

Jess was born around June 2002 and it doesn't look as if she will ever really grow up. She replaces Teifi Dog, who died in January and is still much missed. Fortunately Jess is so different that comparisons would be odious.

Another new arrival [2002] was a bg red minibus, very nesessary as I can no longer climb in and out of an ordinary van, and, anyway, the old van died of rust. Jess in particular likes to have her head out of the window and bites silently at passing cars and barks anything but silently at everyone visible anywhere we park.

This is a rare event. Wispy doesn't really believe in playing now that she is nearly 12. But she was initially very flatterd by Jess's submissive attitude. Wisp had never been top dog in her life as she is so little that if she growled or snarled none of the other dogs took any notice.

This was a short pause for a sniff during a game with Barney. Jess thinks cats are for playing with. Brandy tolerates her but Barney returns her affections completely and they have great games.

Bluebell is a recent rescue. She lived in a house with a big garden and was happy until her owners moved to a Bungalow with a small garden. From then on she returned to the old house everytime she was fetched and set up caterwauling on the windowsill of her old home until neighbours took to complaing to the new house-owners about the cat that did not even belong to them. In the end after 7 return journeys, I was prevailed upon to take her in as I have a big garden and am too far away for a cat of small brain to work out the return route. The boys don't like her much and she spits at everyone but is settling in slowly.

Toby, who lives at Trawsfynydd Post Office and totally returns jess's affections, come to play. They can keep this up for hours.

Anticlockwise Wispy, Jess, Bess, Vick receiving a biscuit each from my friend Pam. Bess and Vick belong to Pam, Bron and Mary and live in Dolgellau.

Jess trying to persuade Vick, whom she adores to get off his bed and play. He does not return her affections.

Success! Sometimes outside he agrees to play, although this mostly takes the form of flattening Jess on the grass each time she returns after zooming round him.
